There is a distinct, unmatched magic to a true-blue David Dhawan film. It’s the kind of cinema that doesn’t just fill theater seats; it fills the room with unadulterated joy, hearty belly laughs, and a colorful nostalgia that stays with you long after the credits roll. Walking into the trailer launch event for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the energy in the air was palpable. After watching the trailer, we can safely say the wait is finally over. This film promises to be a full-on, wholesome family entertainer packed to the brim with comedy, confusion, romance, and utter madness.
For his 46th directorial venture, the king of comedy is back to doing what he does best, and the sheer scale of excitement is real. Collaborating for the fourth time with his son, Varun Dhawan, David Dhawan is bringing a grand cinematic ride to the big screen, and our hearts are completely full.
The event itself was an absolute emotional rollercoaster, filled with moments of collective “oohs” and “aahs” as the stellar star cast and yesteryear legendary technicians took the stage. Seeing veterans like lyricist Sameer saab, music maestro Anu Malik, and brilliant story writer Rumi Jaffery come together alongside visionary producer Ramesh Taurani felt like a beautiful celebration of classic Hindi cinema. The stage was further brightened by the gorgeous leading ladies Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, alongside an incredible supporting ensemble including Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Panday, Ali Asgar, and Maniesh Paul.
But what truly stole the afternoon—and frankly, deeply touched everyone in the room—was the beautiful, emotional bond shared by the Dhawan family.
In a deeply moving moment, David Dhawan looked at Varun and expressed how incredibly blessed he feels to have a son like him. It was a raw, beautiful father-son moment that set the tone for the entire evening. But the class and panache didn’t stop there. When Varun took over the microphone, he chose to shift the spotlight entirely. Like a true-blue hero and a devoted son supporting his father’s legacy, Varun made sure every single key cast and crew member shared the stage, giving due credit to the entire team. It was a gesture filled with so much grace and sincerity. To add to the warmth, there was also a incredibly sweet, nostalgic moment shared between the two brothers, David and Anil Dhawan, making the afternoon feel less like a formal press event and more like a big, loving family reunion.
I am completely besotted by this team. The films David Dhawan makes hold an entertainment value that beautifully resonates with passion, kindness, and an infectious confidence. It’s a signature style that reminds us why we fell in love with going to the movies in the first place.
Produced by Tips Films Ltd and co-produced by Maximilian Films (UK), the film is already teasing us with an album that is bound to dominate our playlists. From the dance anthem WOW to the romantic Tera Ho Jaun and the ultimate wedding track Vyah Karwado Ji, the music is already a massive hit.
As producer Ramesh Taurani perfectly put it, this is a wholesome entertainer designed for laughter, music, and family fun. We are counting down the days until it hits the big screen on June 5th!
The countdown to pure Bollywood madness has officially begun, and we cannot wait to experience it in a packed theater.
