Wankhede roars as Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals lift the trophy in front of cricketing legends and 29,000+ fans.
The grand finale of the T20 Mumbai League 2025 delivered all the fireworks cricket fans hoped for, as the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals were crowned champions after a nail-biting 5-wicket win over SoBo Mumbai Falcons at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Led by Siddhesh Lad, the Royals chased down a target of 158 with four balls to spare, capping off an electric evening of cricket in front of a packed house that included legends Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, and India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma.
A Finale to Remember
Batting first, SoBo Mumbai Falcons, captained by Shreyas Iyer, posted a competitive 157/4 thanks to a solid 50* from Mayuresh Tandel and a blazing 45* from Harsh Aghav. The pair rescued the innings from a precarious 72/4 with an unbeaten 85-run stand, shifting momentum back in their favour.
The Royals responded with confidence. Chinmay Sutar (53) anchored the chase with a fluent half-century, while Awais Khan (38), Sachin Yadav (19), and Sahil Jadhav (22) offered critical support. Skipper Siddhesh Lad set the tone early with a brisk start before Chinmay took charge, forming pivotal partnerships that kept the Royals ahead in the game.
A late twist from Falcons’ Kartik Mishra—who dismissed both Awais and Chinmay in the 19th over—momentarily reignited hopes. But it was Rohan Raje who held his nerve, smashing a boundary first ball of the final over and guiding the Royals to a memorable win.
