Mumbai witnessed a powerful moment of history, honour, and national pride with the unveiling of the legendary Famagusta tank—the very tank commanded by Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal during the iconic Battle of Basantar. The historic unveiling took place in the presence of the Indian Army, decorated officers, veterans, and their families, marking a deeply emotional tribute to one of India’s bravest war heroes.
The ceremonial unveiling was led by Lt Gen. DS Kushwah, AVSM, SM, along with the team behind the much-anticipated biopic ‘Ikkis’, including producer Dinesh Vijan, director Sriram Raghavan, and actors Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia. The moment bridged generations—connecting today’s youth with the legacy of a 21-year-old officer whose courage continues to inspire the nation.
Adding to the significance of the event, the Famagusta tank will now travel across Mumbai, offering citizens a rare opportunity to witness history up close. The mobile tribute is expected to create powerful public engagement as people come face-to-face with the very machine that stood witness to one of India’s most heroic battlefield stories.
The unveiling also builds momentum for ‘Ikkis’, produced by Maddock Films and directed by National Award-winner Sriram Raghavan. The film chronicles the extraordinary life and sacrifice of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, PVC, who laid down his life during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, becoming one of the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardees.
With just two weeks to go, the countdown to Ikkis has officially begun. The film is slated to release in theatres on 25th December 2025, promising a stirring cinematic tribute to valour, duty, and supreme sacrifice.
As the Famagusta tank rolls through Mumbai, it carries not just steel and tracks—but a moving reminder of what true courage looks like.
