Father’s Day isn’t just a day marked on the calendar — it’s a moment to pause and celebrate the real, raw, and ever-growing bond between fathers and their children. And in our home, this year’s celebration unfolded with quiet warmth and heartfelt gestures — the kind that don’t need fancy words, but are felt in the tiniest of actions.
Our father-son equation is one that’s not overly expressive, but deeply rooted in shared routines and unsaid understandings. It lives in Gen Z banter with a dash of sports debate — from passionate discussions over who the real GOAT is (Virat for cricket, Ronaldo for football, and Lebron for basketball), to long drives echoing with arguments over Drake vs. Mohammad Rafi, chicken nuggets vs. Indian or Chinese food.
And yet, despite the back-and-forth on almost everything, the one space of mutual surrender and pure joy? Our all-time favourite word game – RST – where the boys bond over rounds of witty, competitive play that never fails to end in laughter.
This year, my son Jeehan took it all a step further. With a heart full of love and an eye for detail, he curated a Father’s Day that wasn’t about big gestures, but the little things that truly matter. He brought together memories, meaning, and mischief – all wrapped in affection.
Let’s dive into our very own “Father’s Day Edit” — curated by son, approved by dad, and deeply cherished by all of us.
1. The Trendy Blue Sports Watch

This one was an instant winner! A stylish blue sports watch — cool enough for those breezy casual Sundays when the boys step out, either to play volleyball, cruise around town for a laid-back brunch, or simply indulge in their shared love for street-style shopping. It’s more than just an accessory; it’s a reminder of their “just the boys” time — carefree, unscheduled, and full of laughs.
2. The Thoughtful Neckband Earphones

Teenagers, they observe more than we know. So when my son said, “Dad needs some noise-cancellation time,” we smiled knowingly. Enter: a sleek pair of neckband-style earphones, perfect for those moments when life gets a little too loud. Whether it’s during his downtime or when he’s escaping the household buzz, this little gadget is already proving to be a life-saver.
3. The Great Shoe Love Story

Ah, shoes! If there’s one thing these two bond over more than food and gadgets — it’s shoes. Sliders, casuals, sports kicks — they have a mini collection going, and let’s just say, it’s contagious. Now that our teenager officially fits into his father’s size (cue emotional music), there’s absolutely no hesitation in gifting one to dad. Because as they say — what’s his papa’s is also his. N’est-ce pas?
4. The Signature Scent – Issey Miyake Classic

There’s something about a signature scent that binds moments to memory. And for these two, it’s the unmistakable musky freshness of Issey Miyake Classic. After a few flirtations with other brands, they circled back to their tried-and-true favorite. This time, it came via me, but the intent was all son — because he knew dad would love it, and that’s all that mattered.
5. The Final Touch — A Meal Fit for a King

And honestly, what’s Father’s Day without that ultimate comfort meal to wrap it all up? We’ve got our eyes (and tummies) set on heading to our all-time favourite spot — Pratap’s Dhaba, Andheri — a buzzing hotspot for the city’s media and entertainment folk, and a place that never disappoints. We’re already anticipating what’s to come: fried lasoon waali tadka, mutth marke sliced pyaaz, and that glorious paneer/chicken adraki dhania that hits just the right notes with every bite. Pair that with buttery garlic naan, and it’s basically a food hug on a plate. Ufff, bilkul muh mein paani aa gaya! It’s the kind of meal that doesn’t just satisfy your hunger, but your soul — and leaves behind only the sound of a happy burp and full hearts.
So yes, that’s how we plan to end this special day – with our hero of the house, over shared bites, warm conversation, and the kind of comfort only dads and dal makhani can offer.
Because at the end of the day, fathers are the wind beneath our wings — steady, strong, and always just one step behind, making sure we soar.
“Behind every young child who believes in themselves is a parent who believed first.”
Or as life so quietly sings…🎵Papa Meri Jaan… 🎵
Here’s to all the dads – our first cheerleaders, quiet warriors, and forever constants. Happy Father’s Day!
