Weaver of fashion fantasies, KALKI Fashion presented its exclusive couture collection ‘Mehrang’ at the recently concluded Bombay Times Fashion Week 2019. The showstopper for the collection Aditi Rao Hydari wore an exquisite Emerald Green Lehenga like a dream.
The collection proved to be a visual treat for the lovers of all things glamour. Aditi’s flawless beauty and statuesque posture highlighted the bold and vivid style of this season’s collection.
The showstopper lehenga sported varying levels of jaw-dropping jaal exposure with increased coverage of intricate handcrafted butti work. And while elaborate gold embellishments and opulent cutwork hem details made a strong showing on the runway, minimalist pastel floral motifs and classic hand stitched blouse presented a bridal counterpoint. Great for a late-autumn soirée or winter wedding, this showstopper lehenga creates a sense of whimsy freshness while still being ultra-sophisticated.
“B-e-a-u-t-i-ful collection !” remarked Aditi Rao Hydari. “I had an amazing time associating with KALKI, super glad to be the muse for their collection ‘Mehrang’. The emerald green lehenga I wore was absolutely stunning and something I would definitely recommend the to-be-brides to opt for this wedding season. The collection does offer a modern take on Indian Bridal wear. I loved the fact that the collection has something for every kind of bride’s personality. The designs will make anyone wearing it special. Bravo, KALKI Fashion!”
Taking a detour from the traditional reds and pastels that dominate bridal wear, the ‘Mehrang’ collection presented a range of alternate colours brides can chose from. It had emerald greens and mosaic teal blues on the runway.
Long fit-and-flare gowns, tulle dhoti sarees, tailored jackets, slit skirts & no-sleeve cape styles officially had their moments on the ramp. While the sexy, off-shoulder trend isn’t going anywhere, the full grown tulip-mirror embroideries on jacket blouses jumped into the mix.
From a relatively discreet hand-embroidered bodice ball gowns to the high-glam draped tops, the down-to-the-floor jade motifs & velvet patches was a “thing” for bridal in the collection.
Saurabh Gupta, Director at KALKI said, “Aditi has a unique face with the perfect blend of femininity and elegant features. She just makes couture look effortless. A combination of glamour and earthy beauty for the perfect reflection of modern-day women, we think she is all you need to look at. No wonder, the detailing on the 6 weeks period lehenga on her looked nothing less than royalty. Super elated to have her walk for us”.
While floral details are a wedding dress staple, KALKI Fashion took flowers to a new level for fall 2019-20 with the most exquisite, so-pretty-you’ll-want-to-cry 3D mirror embellishments.
Layers of silk tulle, extra overlays of opulent hand-embroidered nets and pretty organzas walked down the runway. There’s just something about the collection that gives a bride that extra swagger — which is totally appropriate for a walk-down the aisle.
The lively color scheme will be soon be launched at KALKI Santacruz store 19th October onwards and on www.kalkifashion.com.
