Lenskart Shunya Eyewear Collection Inspired by Indian Music
What if the rhythm of a sitar, the curve of a flute and the quietude of shunya could find their way into a pair of glasses?
That is the intriguing idea behind Shunya, a new eyewear collection by Lenskart that looks to Indian music not simply as inspiration, but as a language of form, movement and mood.
Arriving just as the festive season begins to gather momentum, the collection brings together 37 eyeglass and sunglass styles, drawing on familiar elements of Indian musical and cultural vocabulary and translating them into contemporary silhouettes. Think heritage, but without the nostalgia. Tradition, but with a decidedly modern frame.
And there is more to the story than what sits on the face.
From Sound to Silhouette
Shunya — the Sanskrit word for zero — has long carried associations with emptiness, stillness and the infinite possibility that can emerge from it. In music, that idea feels particularly evocative: before the first note, there is silence; from that silence, rhythm, melody and emotion take shape.
The collection plays with that thought, bringing details inspired by the sitar, flute and lotus into contemporary eyewear. Rather than literal interpretations of Indian heritage, the references reveal themselves more subtly through curves, details and silhouettes.
And Then, There Is the Music
The musical inspiration behind Shunya also moves beyond the frames through Lenskart Live: Sounds of Shunya, a five-evening series bringing together artists across classical, Carnatic, acoustic, Sufi, ghazal and contemporary sounds.
The line-up includes Arunita Kanjilal, Iham Kavyam Experience by Kavya Ajit, Anushka Gouttam and Vishwajeet Borwankar, alongside instrumentalists Nandini Shankar on violin, Swayam on sitar, Varsh Jain on flute and Ved Prajapati on tabla.
Adding a more experimental note, Mahesh Raghvan and Shravan Sridhar bring Carnatic music into an electronic setting with electric violin, while siblings Prachi and Raghav Agarwal — Backstage Siblings — bring their distinctive bhajan-jamming format to the series. Since 2024, the duo has performed more than 300 shows across over 50 cities.
It is a fitting extension of a collection that began with the idea of translating Indian music into something visual — and wearable.
As the festive season gets into full swing, Shunya finds its place somewhere between fashion, music and contemporary Indian design: 37 styles inspired by the sounds and symbols of India, accompanied by five evenings of live music that explore those sounds in their own way.
Shunya is available across Lenskart stores and on the Lenskart app, while Lenskart Live: Sounds of Shunya streams exclusively on the app from October 8–12, between 7 pm and 8 pm.
