I recently had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Mr Christian Breton who was on a visit to India earlier this month. The leading French cosmetic and skincare brand makes its foray in the Indian market with their EYE PRIORITY range and High-Quality Skin Care.
Greeting with a firm handshake and a warm smile, his eyes twinkle with a mixture of wisdom and enthusiasm, we sit down for our tete-a-tete.

Could you elaborate on what inspired the expansion into the Indian market, particularly in adapting your product line to suit the needs of the Indian climate and skin types?
Christian Breton: We decided to launch the Christian Breton brand in India because we recognized the immense potential of the Indian market and the growing demand for high-quality skincare solutions. We understand that the Indian market is diverse and dynamic, with a wide range of skin types, concerns and lifestyles, and we believe that our expertise in eye contour and targeted skincare solutions can have a significant impact on this market.
Our products are tailored and formulated effectively to meet your specific needs. One way our brand can make its contribution is by introducing Indian consumers to the concept of targeted skincare. Our Eye Priority range, in particular, which addresses issues such as dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines around the eyes, can resonate well with individuals who have not found effective solutions with products currently available in the Indian market.
Can you share any upcoming product launches or innovations tailored specifically for the Indian market?
Christian Breton: Actually, the whole range is new to the Indian Market! People will be crazy about our EYE PRIORITY range and High-Quality Skin Care.
The Indian climate makes the concept of Cryotherapy all the more useful. Applying Christian Breton products would be like a breath of fresh air for your skin. The products are formulated with cold-friendly ingredients and are therefore very fresh in themselves. We already have the perfect product for the Indian market: the DARK UNDER EYE SERUM, which dramatically reduces dark circles after just a few weeks of use! Trust me, try them, you will be convinced!
How do you envision the future of your brand’s presence in India, considering the evolving consumer preferences and market trends ?
Christian Breton: To cater to the online-savvy Indian market, the brand is available on various e-commerce sites like Amazon India, Myntra, Parcos, Tata Cliq Palatte Luxe. We already have four points of sale in India and we will have more very soon. We want Indians to enjoy the Christian Breton experience as much as possible, whether online or in-store. So we are very excited about what’s coming next for India, because it is a very interesting market!

In terms of distribution, what strategies are you employing to ensure widespread availability of your products across various regions in India?
Christian Breton: We are counting on Baccarose’s expertise, which has proved its worth with other international brands, to develop Christian Breton in the Indian market. We have full confidence in his knowledge of the Indian market and consumers to develop the brand and make it a real success.
In what ways do you engage with your customers to gather feedback and insights, and how does this inform your product development and marketing strategies?
Christian Breton: We are in constant contact with our distributors to gather feedback from our customers and offer the best products on the market. We test every product on a panel of consumers before it is launched. This allows us to offer products that are truly in tune with the market and consumer expectations. Several times a year we organise incentive groups with our distributors’ staff, who are out in the field, to discuss with them and get as much feedback as possible.
With sustainability becoming increasingly important to consumers, how does your brand integrate eco-friendly practices into its production and packaging?
Christian Breton: At Christian Breton, we primarily use glass packaging, which is infinitely recyclable, while the plastic tubes are made from recycled plastic. But because everybody knows there’s always room for improvement, we are committed to limit excess cardboard, paper and cellophane, especially when it comes to the products packaging. The brand also supports “Fonds Bleus 06”, an association of volunteers who cleans up every week the French Riviera’s seabed.
Lastly, what sets your brand apart from competitors in the Indian skincare market, and how do you plan to maintain this competitive edge?
Christian Breton: While other brands may focus on more generic products, we set Christian Breton apart with our medical and scientific approach to cosmetics. Our expertise in Eye Contour and our innovative use of cryotherapy positions us as pioneers in the industry. Cryotherapy effectively treats inflammation, which is the primary culprit of most eye-related issues. Following the fundamental principle of cryotherapy, I have created a cold therapy that involves applying our products cold. Keeping the products in the fridge accentuates the genuinely refreshing sensation of the ingredients in the formulas. Our products yield even more effective results with the added benefit of a cooling effect. If refrigeration is not possible, they can be used at room temperature as they are naturally fresh.

As we wind up, we discuss about common lifestyle habits which are the leading causes plaguing health and wellness in today’s time. Our exposure to excessive screen time, lack of sleep, stress, and exposure to environmental pollutants is taking a huge toll on our delicate eye area, leading to concerns like dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines. While adjusting these habits is important for overall health, incorporating high-quality eye care products can provide additional support by nourishing and protecting the skin around the eyes.
